Why Hungarian Duck Down?
Hungarian Duck Down is a premium quality down, with great insulating and ventilation properties. Compared to other duck breeds, its body weight and size is exceptional thanks to the unique breeding and feeding.
Although duck down is looked at as inferior to goose down, Hungarian Duck Down is still a great choice for premium down bedding.
Hungarian Down also has higher recovery power than other down. Recovery power is a new measurement which indicates the down material’s ability to retain it’s shape, form and overall quality. Many factors attribute to why Hungarian Down has higher recovery power

Hungarian Down Tracking System (HDTS)
In a New Zealand exclusive, we're using a system called HDTS that allows you to find out incredible amounts of information about the product you have purchased. By simply scanning your unique QR Code that is provided with your product, you can see exactly where in Hungary the down is from, benefits associated with the down you have chosen, and much more.
Responsible Down Standard (RDS)
Eiderdown is certified to the Responsible Down Standard, which certifies down and feather against animal welfare requirements and tracks it from farm to final product. 100% of our Down is independently certified to the Responsible Down Standard.
Fill Power
Our 80% Hungarian Duck Down has a fill power of 705 in3 as tested by IDFL in June 2022.
Our 50% Hungarian Duck Down has a fill power of 450 in3 as tested by IDFL in June 2022.
Down Duvet Fabric
We've recently upgraded the fabric used for all of our Hungarian Down Duvets to compliment the Down's beautifully light softness. We're now using a 100% Cotton Sateen, 400 Thread count fabric. The sateen weave creates a fabric that is shiny, soft, and elastic with a beautiful drape. Sateen fabric is characterized by a soft, lustrous surface. It provides a casing that is very light and approximately 20% lighter than your typical 233-290 thread count fabric commonly used on other down duvets.
We also use Sanitized® for our Hungarian Down Duvets & Pillows meaning you can enjoy sound and rejuvenating sleep with the Sanitized® hygiene function. Sanitized® is the best available technology that durably protects our products:
- embedded in the fabric for constant protection
- does not change the touch and feel of the fabric
- effective against bacteria
- odor-resistant
- optimal protection against dust mites and their allergens
- dermatologically tested and safe for man and the environment
- recommended for allergy sufferers
Product Care
For optimum performance of your duvet, we recommend you air it for 1-2 days before use. To help keep your duvet fresh and puffy it is recommended that you fluff and air frequently. It may be hand washed in warm, soapy solution so long as it is rinsed well and you do not wring it out. It is important to dry without delay using frequent agitation and ensure the fill is completely dry. The best way to achieve this is using using a tumble drier on the warm setting. It is also drycleanable. This information can be found on the care label attached to each product we offer.

We aim to dispatch all orders the next business day after purchase. During periods of high demand it may take an extra day to ship items. All items will be shipped via NZ Post/Courier Post and tracking is provided by email as soon as they are shipped.

Shipping within New Zealand is free for all orders. Orders will be shipped direct from our Mosgiel based factory and will be dispatched within 2 business days of the order being placed. Estimated shipping times is 1-2 business days for South Island & 2-3 business days for North Island after dispatch.

During periods of high demand it may take an additional 1-2 business days. If for some reason we're not able to meet this timeframe, then we aim to make contact with the customer within this time period to let them know of any potential delays.
Orders are shipped via the NZ Post network and tracking will be provided once an order is ready to collect.

Hungarian Duck Down 4 Seasons Duvet
Over the past 10 years this is my 3rd duvet purchase. This time I decided, as it was on sale, to size up and buy the Californian King, this decision was the best I have ever made. If you can afford it, definitely size up, my previous duvets where all Super Kings (the same size our bed is)but was extremely frustrating for me as there was not enough length and width to tuck in (I prefer bedspreads to duvet covers). The Californian King on the other hand, has heaps of length and width to easily tuck in and being the 4 seasons duvet you get 2 that in winter you dome together or has either one as a summer or autumn weight. Always great quality and, if on sale, reasonably priced.

Warm & cozy but not overheated!
I absolutely love the Duck down 4 seasons duvet. It has kept me wonderfully warm and cozy throughout winter without feeling overheated. Perfect for hot sleepers (& menopausal women struggling to keep a balanced heat overnight!). It's also surprisingly light weight, so incredible comfortable & easy to pull back in your direction if your partner is a duvet stealer! It does arrive rather whiffy, but don't let that put you off. Hold your breath & peg it outside. I put it out three days running & then bingo... You will have the best duvet... ever! So pleased with my purchase. Well worth the money. Great advice from Eiderdown prior to purchase. Fab customer service, so friendly & knowledgeable. Thank you so much 😊
